Scott Wilson
Scott Wilson uses the CiZone to provide development to all of its UK and Ireland employees

Introduction Scott Wilson Group plc is a global integrated design and engineering consultancy for the built and natural environments. With its headquarters in the UK, the Group has a worldwide network of 80 offices and over 6,000 employees. Scott Wilson offers Strategic Consultancy and multi-disciplinary professional services in the Railways, Buildings & Infrastructure, Environment & Natural Resources and Roads Sectors. Ci was chosen as a partner for Scott Wilson due to a truly collaborative and client-focussed approach.
What was your rationale for introducing the CiZone?
In 2008, Scott Wilson contacted Career Innovation with a view to exploring their online Career Innovation Zone (CiZone) tool. Kieron explains, "Our aspiration was to source a tool that would provide additional support to employees with career planning and career decisions in a consistent and structured way. An online tool was particularly attractive given the wide geographic spread of our offices throughout the UK and Ireland and need to deploy quickly and efficiently, with limited impact to business operations. Our Performance Management process is also supported with an online tool, so it made sense to extend career support in this way".
What success are you having with the tool?
Scott Wilson launched the CiZone tool during May 2008. It has been embedded into the Company's Learning and Development Framework and online Performance Management tool, with access made available to all employees in the UK and Ireland. Since launch, the tool has also been embedded into classroom based training, including graduate and management courses - to encourage high usage rates. Twelve months on and use of the CiZone is steady, with activity spiking during recent Performance Reviews, where approximately 10% of UK and Ireland staff accessed the tool as part of the review process. Kieron notes, "It is always difficult to embed online tools, so I am encouraged by the usage rates we have experienced and hope to build on this in the future by continuing to embed the tool in business processes and initiatives".
Ci have since supported the organisation with a modified version of the CiZone tool (used for outplacement) and an agreement has now been reached to continue provision of services during 2009-2010.
