Innovation Labs

Engaging ‘Generation Y’ as a powerful catalyst for productivity and change, the Workplace Innovation Lab pairs Gen Y employees with their managers and provides 90 days’ support to accelerate business priorities through innovation. The Lab places as much focus on the ‘how’ as the ‘what’ of innovation, by exploring new ways of working: Leveraging personal networks, powerful conversations, and new technologies.

The ‘Lab’ comprises virtual and face-to-face events and online support, tailored to a specific organisational context. Various tools can be used as appropriate to highlight opportunities for working differently: Using Social Network Mapping to identify new connections, receiving powerful feedback from Ci’s Engaging Conversations feedback tool, trying new ways to have honest dialogue, and testing social media tools for blogging, messaging or virtual collaboration.

The focus is not on the new technologies themselves but on the critical relationships and powerful conversations that will make a difference in delivering results. Investing 36 hours over 10 weeks provides the opportunity to:

  • Develop your capability, especially focused on communication skills and networks, including use of social media.
  • Identify new ways of working that could help you and your team and positively impact your future business results.
  • In the process, accelerate a business goal or project of your choice – something that cannot be solved by you alone.

The first Workplace Innovation Lab took place at The Boeing Company – you can read about it on the Management Innovation Exchange.
