Career Development Consultant
Valerie works for Ci as a workshop designer and facilitator, and coach. She also writes and edits content for the Ci Zone. She is a qualified career development professional and has over twenty years’ experience of working with clients who want to start, manage and change their career journeys. She delivers one-to-one coaching and workshops on areas such as career planning, in-house talent development and job-seeking skills.
She has developed knowledge of careers within a range of industries and has worked alongside training providers, corporate enterprises, public organisations, start-up companies and charities on how to plan and develop careers and how to select and retain the best people. Her clients have included executives, managers, employees and freelancers in a variety of consulting, industry, finance and public sector roles.
Before becoming an independent career professional and an associate at Ci, Valerie was Assistant Director of the Careers Group at the University of London where she oversaw career practice, professional development and quality enhancement in twelve business units and prior to that she was head of the careers service at the London Institute.
Valerie has written for a variety of on and offline publications on matters of career development and is on the editorial board for the journal of the Career Development Institute. She is a member and a Legacy Fellow of the Career Development Institute, a member of NICEC (National Institute for Career Education and Counselling) and was formerly on the boards of both the Association of Career Professional’s International (UK) and the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services. Valerie is a registered career development professional.
