The gig economy – the new norm

The latest legal cases suggest we need to pay attention to employment contracts of gig workers, but if we want to fill our skills gap with the right people at the right time in the right (24/7) locations, the gig economy pays dividends for organisations.
The gig model, whereby a worker can choose what work he does, when and where, taps into intrinsic motivators. In L&D, we could let employees know what skills were in demand, and allow them to choose what to learn, when and where.
