In the UK, members of parliament are calling for more support to help women returners – women re-entering the workplace. Given women’s wealth of experience, companies are missing an opportunity to snap up some talented people. Increasing maternal employment by 5% could generate around £750 million in increased tax revenue and decreased benefit spending for the country.
“Returnships” are gaining traction (short internships to help women returners gain confidence and brush up on skills), and enable the organisation to decide whether to take them on full-time. A win/win.
