At the Career Innovation Company we like to remind organisations to invest in ‘the vital many’ – the majority who get disengaged if a few high potentials gain unfair attention.
We think that’s important because too many talent practices are baloney; lacking evidence and creating self-fulfilling investments in people. Better to release untapped talent by spotting keen learners, not ‘leadership potential’.
But we still need focus. Some individuals apply their energy more effectively than others. And a few key roles – often not the obvious – have disproportionate impact. Put your keen learners there.
